HTC targeting even a cheaper android set than Wildfire S.
Android handsets have spread their market reach a lot, but where they still need to gain momentum are the budget users. HTC had previously tried to capture that market segment with Hero and Wildfire series. And now they have even a more cheaper Android set on the way called: HTC Explorer.
It hosts a 3.2″ HVGA (480×320) touchscreen, 600MHz processor and 3MP camera. The back body has rubber like surface which lowers the cost as well as make it more rugged. It runs of Android Gingerbread with new HTC Sense 3.5 interface similar to upcoming HTC Rhyme.
Being run on a slower processor and less than stellar screen, do not expect this device to come with 3D scrolling effects or too much “flashy” stuff. It is meant for more casual users. There is no price confirmed but expect it to be lower than that of Wildfire S which is around 1200 AED.
On a personal note I don’t think HTC core fans will have any interest in this device, neither it will please the targeted budget users, as Huawei is providing better options who want Androids on a budget. If their handsets are available in your region then Huawei Blaze will be a better choice than HTC Explorer.
