Does everything except drive itself.
It’s unusual to see car manufacturers at GITEX, a technology show. But Ford was here last year, and has earned their place this year as well. As you may have guessed, yes, it is the Ford Explorer – it is “all new”, and it is crammed with even more technology.
In fact, it is crammed with so many features and gadgets, it might as well drive itself, but unfortunately, that’s a few years away.
With the new 2012 Explorer, Ford is once again focusing on safety, incorporating nifty little features that enhances the driving experience while keeping the wheels on safer grounds. The 4X4 is equipped with all-round sensors that slows down the vehicle if it detects a car, or a curve ahead, while the car is at high speed. The car also chimes and beeps, and fires of a voice warning, giving the driver the crucial few seconds to slow down, before it applies the brakes itself.
The 2012 Explorer is also voice-enabled. Every aspect of the car, be it climate control, navigating menus, phone calls, etc., can be controlled via voice commands.
The chief engineer of Ford Middle East was kind enough to join us in our tech video walkthrough of the car. Check it out below.
