Deal will give Baidu a hardware front to accompany it’s software department

In a move that comes as no large surprise, especially after the announcement of it’s very Android-esque mobile OS, Baidu has annoucned that it is joining forces with Dell in a bid to widen its hold on the chinese market.

The merger, according to Engadget, will see the duo producing a range of phones and smartphones to captalize on a market which has the potential of more that 900 million mobile subscribers. Sources on the inside have indicated that the devices will be seen on shelves as early as November. Thus hitting the holiday season.

The annoucement also comes after Dell saw a growth of 22% in sales in China during the first quarter of 2011. Only time will tell if this will see a major impact on the big fish in the market – Apple.
