Symbian Anna update rolls out

Nokia sets get new icons, faster browser, new ovi maps, syncing with NFC devices and much more.

The awaited “Symbian Anna” update for first generation of Symbian^3 devices – the Nokia N8, C7, C6-01 and E7 has arrived. By now the Symbian OS update will be available in UAE and other major middle east and European countries. It includes a lot of new features and improvements . The Symbian Anna update will be available through Ovi Suite on the PC or the SW Update app on your phone.

1. Brand new visually pleasing icons.
2. Portrait QWERTY keyboard for fast, single-handed typing.
3. Split-screen view while you’re typing, so you can see the web pages, forms and message threads you’re replying to.
4. The browser is easier to use and faster, and offers better compliance with recent standards.
5. Ovi Maps now has a simpler and quicker search function.
6. Ovi maps now include public transport routes.
7. Check-in to social networks, send emails and SMS messages sharing your location from within Ovi maps.
8. Email improvements include full meeting request support.
9. Hardware-accelerated encryption of your phone’s data for true business-grade security.
10. Secure intranet access for business users who need IPSEC and SSL VPN enablers.

13. Qt Mobility 1.1 and Qt 4.7.
14. Symbian Anna also activates the NFC (Near-Field Communications) hardware in the Nokia C7, for easy sharing, games, use with NFC-enabled accessories and reading NFC tags on other items.
