TouchDroid will bring your now-obsolete WebOS device to the Android family.
Many were surprised to hear about HP announcement of shutting down WebOS when the OS had much potential, but there was no room for marketing their HP TouchPad tablet; with people either preferring iPad or Android tablets. So, they decided to pull the plug on their otherwise appreciated TouchPad. But now rumors arise that the HP TouchPad could have a new life as an Android tablet if a band of dedicated developers pull off their new project.
The project is called: TouchDroid, which aims to port Android to the HP TouchPad and open up the Android Market on the tablet. The team of four (Thomas Sohmers, Frankie F, John Hale and Jacob Bell) has already got a website up outlining their plan as well as asking TouchPad lovers for donations so that their beloved tablet may not live on an obsolete platform. The first version of Android to be ported on TouchDroid will be Gingerbread but after that they do aim to bring all the latest Honeycomb and Ice Cream versions to it too.
