Tablets are being used for design review, communication and clash checking in the field.

Disney World “imagineers” team in Florida is redesigning the Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland area and their main on field tool is none other than an iPad. They have a video posted showing that how they are using tablets and proprietary Disney software to manipulate 3D models of new buildings in the field to facilitate construction process.

The tablets provided them with ease of quickly visualizing the rides, check clashes on field before they actually happen, contact contractors, team leaders and have video and picture feed sharing on the go with related people around the world to identify problems areas and discuss solutions on the fly. Although Android tablets would be able to do the same, but since Steve Jobs is largest individual share holder in Disney, so its no surprise to see that all the tablets shown in video are iPads.
