Comes with hefty price tag attached.
The new Toshiba Qosmio F750 is said to be the worlds first laptop with glasses-free 3D. The Qosmio is the premium range, so all the newest technologies naturally feature here first. Geared towards the entertainment and gaming markets, this latest version in the range brings a 120Hz refresh rate, 15.6 inch ‘lenticular’ HD screen, which can display 3D and 2D simultaneously. There is also an HD webcam which tracks the user, so you always have the best three dimensional views even at the strangest of angles.
The spec sheet seems impressive too. The Qosmio is powered by a top of the range Intel Core i7 chip, and also brings NVIDIA® GeForce GT 540M graphics, Harman/Kardon audio, BDXL drive and USB 3.0, 2.0, HDMI, VGA ports for connectivity. Unfortunately, it looks like it still suffers from the bland Toshiba design theme.
Our friends at Engadget have got their hands on a pre-production piece. According to them, the eye tracking technology is very fast and accurate, but falters in a little 3D mode. Of course, the manufacturer may well iron the glitches out by the time it hits production. Reportedly, videos in 3D look mouthwateringly good.
The new Qosmio hits markets this August. Expected retail price is $2100.
