Get apps to use Pomodoro time management technique to get things done in time.
Pomodoro is a productivity enhancement technique, which is meant to help you focus on completing tasks within a set time frame. Assuming “time is money”, what better way to utilize this asset then to use the Pomodoro applications. Today we feature two useful software that use this time based technique to force you to get things done in given time, using this time management technique.
Tomighty sets a timer to help you complete a task within a set period of time, by informing about the remaining time allocated for a specific task. It is a simple timer application which launches a default 25 minute timer on your desktop as soon as you click it (you can change it options to change the time). But 25 minute is a good measure to complete any task with a 5 minute short break margin. This ticking clock creates a psychological influence on user to complete the task before clock runs out. You can use options like take a break to pause the timer for a while but even breaks are timed, so that you don’t end up taking breaks longer than actual scheduled time for the task.

Pomodo7o uses a different yet effective technique to visualize the time remaining for any task. This open source app uses the Windows 7 feature of displaying progress bar in task bar. If you have done installations or downloads on Windows 7 then you would have seen the progress bar fills up in task bar to show progress. This software uses same visual technique to display the time spent / remaining for your task. Once again staying true to Pomodoro technique philosophy default timer is 25 minute. Even if you are doing a big job the philosophy is to divide the big task into smaller task so that progress and “productive usage” of time is obtained. This software turns from green to yellow to red as the time remaining reduces and gives you the psychological push to complete task before time. But since this is a Windows 7 only gimmick, so there is no support for older Windows XP.
