Nokia E6 lands in UAE

Nokia has launched its Qwerty and touch enabled smartphone called the E6 recently in the UAE.

Officially this is the successor to the E72 smartphone. The Symbian Anna update brings some new features, including new-look icons, improved text input and easier and faster browsing capabilities.

Whats really unique about the phone is for the first time users can choose from the broad range of Apps on Nokia Ovi Store and be billed directly to their Etisalat account.

Specifications appear standard, with a 2.46-inch LCD that delivers a 640 by 480 pixels resolution, an 8 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash capability, a microSD memory card slot with support up to 32GB and a 1500mAh battery which is capable of providing a stand-by time of more than a month and 7.5 hours of continuous talk-time on 3G network

According to Nokia, “Like other Symbian phones, the Nokia E6 comes with free global walk and drive navigation through the latest Ovi Maps. It also comes with free push email and IM, providing you have a data plan.”

Expect it to retail for around 1500 Dirhams.

Dubai, UAE – Nokia has launched the new Nokia E6 smart phone at a special event held at the XVA Gallery in the Dubai International Financial Centre. The Nokia E6 device, which features both touch and type alongside strong social networking functionality, was introduced to members of the media and public during a themed evening which featured Nokia’s General Manager of Lower Gulf, Tom Farrell alongside speaker, Hussein Hallak and local comedian Ali Al Sayed.

Throughout the event, attendees learned more about Nokia’s drive to meet the demands of burgeoning social media scene in the Middle East , got a hands-on feel of the many features of the Nokia E6 and had a chance to win great prizes such as a new Nokia E6 of their very own.

To satisfy the instant messaging needs of today’s smart phone user, the universally popular “What’s App” is also available for download on the Nokia E6 through the Ovi store.  For the first time in the UAE, consumers can now purchase any of the broad range applications from the Ovi Store and directly bill them to their Etisalat account.
