Only select phones will have this luxury

A major announcement on the HTC facebook page just stated that as promised, it is planning on rolling out unlocked bootloaders for the global version of the HTC sensation in August.
This would be a two step process, as reported in engadget, and will see; first, the pushing of a maintenance release to the phones and second, releasing an unlock tool. More good news on this front is that HTC has no intentions of stopping there and seems to have found new love for the developer community. They plan to ” continue rolling out the unlocking capability over time to other devices as maintenance releases and new shipments”
No word on exactly what devices will feature the unlocked bootloaders but this is good news none-the-less
