As part of its ID series revamp.
The US based manufacturer recently announced updates to its ID and NV lines of notebooks. As part of the update, the firm says it has successuflly crammed a 14-inch HD widescreen backlit LED display, complete with edge-to-edge glass (had to be, wouldn’t have fit otherwise) into a chassis they normally used for 13.3 inch models.
But this is only for the ID series notebooks. Other features in the ID update are a new choice of metallic finishes, HDMI, 4GB RAM, and processor of the Sandy Bridge variety in Core i3 and Core i5 flavours.
The NV series doesnt have a such a tight fit. To make up ground, it has a larger 15.6-inch HD widescreen LED-backlit display and more horsepower in the graphics and processor departments. This series features either a subtle geometric pattern or the digital wave pattern on the matte chassis lid.
In the press release, Gateway state both NV and ID series will feature USB 3.0 ports, single-touch backup, quick-use hotkeys for social networking, integrated 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi Certified connectivity, integrated HD 1.3MP webcams and PowerSmart Technology for extra-long battery mileage.
Gateway Incorporated is an Acer subsidiary, headquartered in California.
