Beats Copa America Quarter finals Tweet per second score to the record

Twitter has a new record, and it’s source may surprise you. Twitter announced in a tweet that the Women’s world cup final has broken the record for the most tweets in one second. A whopping 7196 tweets-per-second.

The record just narrowly beat the new second place where the men’s Copa America Quarter Finals between paraguay and Brazil scored an impressive 7166 tweets. just a few tweets off the current record holders.

If the record may surprise you, keep in mind the fact that the US and Japan are probably the most populous twitter nations. Hence the record is one in which both nations were involved. Proof of this is the previous record holder, Japan, with 6939 Tweets per second just 4 seconds after midnight on New Years Day.
