Latest in a series of moves by Apple to own the “App Store” moniker.
A Cease-and-desist letter from apple has been issued to mobile application download site GetJar over the use of the term “Appstore”. The letter, featured in CNET
, was dated June 22nd and claims that the words relate to Apple’s own mobile application service and Getjar should refrain from using the term.
GetJar responded in a letter to Mashable in which the GetJar CEO Ilja Laurs said that the letter came as a “Surprise”. He also said that the legal action was “yet more proof that (Apple) tends to act as if it is above the law” and that his company would not be bullied despite their smaller size.
