Research firm DisplaySearch pubishes results of report.
A recent report featured in CNET
details the results of a report from research firm DisplaySearch which claims that TV makers are expected to ship more that 500 million sets with internet connectivity by the end of 2015
In a statement, Paul Gray, DisplaySearch director of TV electronics research said that:
“The adoption of connected TV is not just taking place in developed regions” and that “Emerging markets often have good broadband services, and there is a thirst from consumers to get the best content available.”
According to DisplaySearch the demand is boosted through the convenience of Wi-Fi for wireless networking and smart TV functions.
Smart TVs are said to be those that:
-Are Capable of retrieving content from the Internet independent of a portal
- Have built-in intelligent search and recommendations
- Can seamlessly connect with other devices in a home network
