New rumor suggests Microsoft may release its own-branded Windows 8 tablets by 2012.

You know how the saying goes “if you gotta do something right, you gotta do it yourself”. It seems Microsoft is putting the saying into practice, with new rumors suggesting that the Redmondians may releases it own brand of Windows 8 tablets.

“Microsoft is reportedly considering to launch an own-brand tablet PC that features Windows 8 by the end of 2012 with cooperation from Texas Instruments and Taiwan-based OEMs/ODMs”, according to a source reporting to DigiTimes.

Building and promoting hardware is nothing new for Microsoft. With its vast experience with the Xbox system, Microsoft can easily put the tools and brawns into creating a high quality tablet device.

Whats more, if they do indeed go through with the rumored plans, they will have the glorious opportunity to call their tablet, simply, WinPad.
