Nokia sends its solar powered C1-02 prototype phones to different regions for testing.

Nokia’s commitment to develop alternative energy sources is well established, and its latest project is a proof of that, called the Solar Charging Project. Nokia has distributed their prototype C1-02 devices with a solar panel powered battery at the back to different parts of the world in different living conditions and environments, to test the feasibility of a solar powered mobile phone.

For now this is just an experiment of feasibility so a commercial product maybe very far from Nokia’s production plans; but if found practical then this will be particularly successful in third world countries as well as with people who spend a lot of time traveling on road.
