New york time is reporting that Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt company “Tomorrow Ventures” has invested in a social start-up called “Backplane’. The startup has raised over 1 million US dollars in venture funding. But via funding in this Google Chairman has found an unlikely partnership with Lady Gaga, who owns 20% of the Backplane.

Backplane is being made expand online communities around musicians and sports teams. It was brain child of Gaga’s manager who came up with the idea for Backplane after sitting in a meeting last year with Lady Gaga and Apple CEO Steve Jobs to discuss Ping. After hearing Jobs’ explanation of Apple’s music social network, Carter thought he might be able to do something a bit better. We will see later when Backplane launches that how it combines social sites like facebook, twitter, itunes and youtube to make one major platform for musicians.
