Full HD goodness now ‘officially’ possible.

Apple has been slow in supporting higher-resolution movie formats on its iDevices, with 1080p video streaming currently not possible with either the iPhone, iPad or iPad 2. With iOS 5, however, Apple is looking to address the much demanded request, and according twitter user jamie367p, will deliver Full HD playback capability to iPad 2.

First hand accounts by people who have experienced the playback, according to 9to5Mac, are positive, saying the playback is “very smooth and looks great”.

iOS 5 is slated for a Fall release.
