Google launches a new +1 button to recommend sites to your friends in the google search results.

Google had been implementing a new global LIKE button in form of their own “+1″ recommend button. This feature intends to rank sites based on how your friends recommend it using this button. If your google contacts +1 something then those sites would be ranked higher with information that what who recommended this site.

The +1 button has been available for some time in google search results, but now they have launched a button for websites. So, that people can +1 a site not just from search results but right from the websites that have the button implemented. Expect to see the +1 button coming to all big and small sites soon right along the usual Tweet / Like / Share buttons.

With this move the global search leader aims to gain market from currently dominant Facebook “Like” button. The difference is that where your Facebook likes actually shares the links with Facebook contacts instantly; Google +1 button will just store the recommendation for your friends to see when they search for similar terms on search engine.

The +1 results are already available on English language Google global sites. If it is not available in your search results then you can force them to show up by joining the +1 experiment at google experimental site. But do remember you must be signed in your google account to use these features.
