Hackers planning a “third major” attack against PSN

Report of another wave of attacks against corporation’s network.

Following the PlayStation Network data breach that Sony has tumbled into the past couple of weeks, and company’s preparation of a recovery from hacker’s attacks, apparently a third “major attack” is incoming this weekend.

The source originates from famous real-time messaging client IRC, which was used by a group of hackers to make the claims to CNET.

The message suggests that those involved plans to release “all or some of the information they are able to copy from Sony’s servers, which could include customer names, credit card numbers and addresses.”

It is also alleged that the attack this weekend will target Sony’s website and will retaliate for the corporation’s handling of the PSN breach.

At this time, it’s still unclear whether hacktivist group ‘Anonymous’ is involved in the reported inbound attacks. They, however, have denied earlier their connection to the PlayStation Network and Sony Online Entertainment server data breach, after Sony made claims that they have discovered traces of intruders who planted a file on its compromised servers named ‘Anonymous’ with words ‘We are Legion’.
