Android jumps 6 points in overall marketshare

Apple outsells other mobile manufacturers.

Android has been on a fantastic rise since the past year and it seems it is literally unstoppable as it captures a greater share of the market every quarter.

According to new numbers released by stat-keeping company comScore, of all the mobile operating systems, Android saw the largest growth by 6%. Every other platform saw a decline in market share, except Apple, which bumped up by 0.5%. The stats clearly paint the deep waters RIM currently is in, which saw the largest fall in market share, by -4.5%.

Android’s exponential growth, however, did not have a parallel effect on individual mobile manufacturers, with only Apple seeing a rise of 1.1% in total market share. While LG managed to hold on to its 20.9% market share, Samsung fell by 0.3%, with Motorola taking the largest hit of 0.9%.

The battle for market share for individual mobile manufacturers will only continue to get difficult as more and more players like ZTE jumping the bandwagon. It will take something truly original to stand amongst the crowd.
