Amazon spending big on its iPad competitor.

According to a report from Digitimes, Amazon’s rumored Honeycomb Tablet will be available for purchase starting from the second half of 2011.

Citing sources from upstream component makers, the report reveals that Quanta Computer is offering the OEM duties and has received orders from the internet retail giants to start preparing their yet to be named Honeycomb Tablet or should I say Amazon’s iPad killer.

Amazon seems to be confident in its Tablet offering as the company expects its monthly orders to reach about 700,000 – 800,000 units during the peak season. Quanta Computer has an impressive portfolio as it is already serving as OEM partner for Sony and RIM’s BlackBerry Playbook. Will Amazon be able to offer some resistance to the constantly growing iPad? Share your predictions with us in the comments box.
