Update also brings small GUI changes.
Popular VOIP iPhone application Viber has recently received an update that adds free text messaging between users.
The updated version 2.0.1 now allow users to exchange instant messages for free, complete with notifications. The IM add-on is pretty basic – it doesn’t allow you to send pictures or audio files, but it should be enough for regular Viber users. The update also brings small GUI changes, such as an improved calling mechanism. The app can now also be deactivated.
Viber is a free iPhone application that allows calls to other Viber users over WiFi and 3G for free. The app is currently only available for iPhone, with iPad, Android and Blackberry versions promised “soon”.
