FastestFox? Not really.

It is common knowledge that the more extensions, add-ons and themes you load up on Mozilla’s Firefox browser, the more slower and clunky it gets. But among them, it is hard to pinpoint exactly which plugin is causing the most performance hit. To help in the matter, Mozilla released a list of extensions that causes the most performance slowdown.

Extensions like Firebug and FoxLingo topped the list, with a startling 75% performance impact. Following it where AniWeather and personal favorite FlashGot which averaged on 50% performance hit. Ironically, an extension called FastestFox, meant to speedup repetitive browser tasks, was placed 8th on the list with a 33% performance impact.

We have listed the top 10 below, full list can be found here.

1) FoxLingo – Translator/Dictionary
2) Firebug
3) AniWeather
4) FlashGot
5) FoxClocks
6) FoxyTunes
7) Video DownloadHelper
8 ) FastestFox – Browse Faster
9) Xmarks Sync
10) SimilarWeb

If you are experiencing slowdowns and crashes, you might want to check if you have any of these installed, and maybe find an alternative.
