New leaked images show Windows Explorer with a ribbon interface.
Despite Microsoft’s measures to stop any leaks pertaining to Windows 8, images and information continue to pour in from the around interwebs. Today, WithinWindows has posted new images from Microsoft’s next operating system that showcases the the ribbon interface on Windows Explorer.
The ribbon interface was first introduced with Office 2007 and also features on other smaller applications like Paint, WordPad, etc on Windows 7. The interface has proved to be extremely effective in easily finding options, however we will reserve judgement on how similar the experience will be on normal Windows.
According to the site, the ribbon interface is under “serious work in progress” and as such, is quite unattractive. It is unclear if Microsoft will opt to go ahead with the interface or restrict it to particular applications. However, the site confirms that there is a toggle to turn the UI on and off, which should please users who are used to the old style of Windows.
