New feature of Microsoft’s next Office suite may bring Canvas-like features.
All we know about the next Office Suite is that Microsoft is working on it. That’s about it. However, today’s leak gives a small peek into what the new version of the popular software will bring.
Winbeta.it has leaked screenshots of a new Office add-on called ‘Moorea’. According to ZDNet, which first speculated it to be similar to the Courier project Microsoft canceled a few months ago, says it could actually be more like Microsoft Office Labs Canvas for OneNote.
As Neowin speculates, the tagline of the software, “everything you need in one place” could mean that it is a content aggregator of sorts. The software may allow you to group content similar to one topic on a Canvas-esque interface, having multiple of such content groups on a single layer. For example, say you were searching for Portal 2, the software would allow to file you images, cakes and videos all in one place. Ditto for other research topics that you may have.
The concept sounds quite interesting, and may be God-sent for university students working on multiple assignments and require a virtual, interactive folder to store all their content and easily access them.
Office 15 is slated to release in 2013.
