Apple to use faster SSDs for its notebook.
According to TUAW, the latest batch of Apple MacBook Air will use SSDs drives from Samsung, which is said to be slightly faster than the current lot featuring Toshiba’s Blade X-gale drives.
Benchgurus AnandTech had ran a few test comparing both the drives and the Samsung SSD was noticeably faster. The test showed speeds of 261 MB/second read and 209.6 MB/second write on the Samsung drive, compared to Toshiba’s 209.8 MB/second read and 175.6 MB/second write.
Of course, these are generally very marginal speed improvements and will be unnoticeable in daily usage. But hey, it’s faster and that’s enough to get juices excited.
