iPhone 5 may not ship with the newest iOS version.
Are you ready for the next iOS version? I am sure you are, but if you were expecting it to be released next month or in June along with the new iPhone, that’s not going to happen, if TechCrunch’s sources are to be believed.
The site’s source claim that iOS 5 will release in September along side Apple’s new (or updated) music related products. The new iOS version may be showcased at the yearly WWDC event but will definitely not be released this summer.
Another source re-confirms rumors from earlier this month about a free MobileMe service. Apple may also be looking to bring an online “music locker” to the service, along with a location finding service for friends and family akin to Facebook’s Places. However, the source wasn’t clear if the entire service will be made free, or if certain modules will be free, or if there will be paid tiers.
The sources also say that the new iPhone will be shipped with a minor iOS 4.x revision, or with the recently release iOS 4.3.1 update. The new iPhone is not expected to be a whole new model, but will only focus on a few hardware revisions and maybe a few new features to get the fanboys rolling again.
