Elop says the company hopes to produce a phone by the end of this year.
Nokia’s infamous CEO Stephen Elop has confirmed to Reuters that the Finnish company currently work on the first phone to feature Microsoft’s labor of love, Windows Phone 7.
“We’re right now, today, having people work on the first Windows Phone devices from Nokia. That work is already under way. If this was an acquisition scenario, that wouldn’t be possible,” Elop said.
Elop said that Windows-based Nokia phones will be on sale from 2012, though he hopes to produce a device by the end of this year.
Still a few months to go before we see some final designs, and so we wait with baited breath.
