COD, racers favorites among players.
It is common for consumer corporations to conduct surveys regarding their services and products, and if the survey yields good results, it is even more common that they will share it with the press. Microsoft recently held a survey among 250 ‘hardcore’ gamers in the UK and found that Xbox 360 players usually spend about £63 on games a month, or roughly about two new games per month.
According to Techwatch, Microsoft questioned gamers aged between 25 and 34. A small percentage of the gamers admitted to have spending up to £100 a month on new games.
The survey also also said that around 83 per cent of Xbox 360 gamers play their consoles around 3-4 times a week, while 41 per cent of them said they play them for up to 3-4 hours a day. Favorite game among the UK’ers was, unsurprisingly, Call of Duty, while genres like racers and RPG’s ranked high.
According to MCV Microsoft Advertising’s head of research for data and analytics, Julie Forey said “Compared against the average male, gamers represent an attractive proposition for marketers. Earning a higher wage, being advocates of premium goods, and over half playing for more than three hours each day, provides firms with a profile from which they can base their message.”
