Here it is finally. The newest contender of the browser war, and its oldest member. Microsoft has finally launched Internet Explorer 9, its completely reworked browser that the company hopes will help it regain its lost glory.

IE 9 comes with a number of improvements and features that puts it firmly in place among the competition. Along with its updated look, IE9 is a fully HTML5-compliant browser and for once, aims to respect the web standards. It also packs in a new JavaScript engine called Chakra, which Microsoft claims is much faster than what Chrome, Opera and Mozilla can muster. Other new features include, Windows 7 taskbar and jumplist support, redesigned notification system to alert users of downloads, add-ons and errors, a smartscreen filter, hardware acceleration, etc.

Users wanting to give Microsoft’s new browser can do so from the following links:
Windows 7 – 32bit, 64bit
Windows Vista – 32bit, 64bit

Internet Explorer 9 is not supported for Windows XP.
