That’s 27 downloads every second.

Internet Explorer 9 released on March 14 and since then, has garnered over 2.35 million downloads, according to The Windows Team Blog. To purposefully put that in a mind boggling context: that’s 27 downloads every second, or over 240 downloads every 9 seconds.

“We want to thank everyone around the world for downloading IE9 and the enthusiastic reception. 2.3 million downloads in 24 hours is over double the 1 million downloads we saw of the IE9 Beta and four times that of the IE9 RC over the same time period.”

The new version of the world’s still most popular browser finally brings an updated interface and features that cause every developer around the world sigh in relief. The browser packs in full-featured HTML5 support, hardware acceleration, new ‘Chakra’ JavaScript Engine, and other features like Windows 7 taskbar support, SmartScreen filter, tracking protection, etc.

If you still haven’t, give Microsoft’s new browser a spin here (note: the installation requires a restart, so save your work.)
