Baidu has 3D Maps too- Just the censored variety

Google defying chinese search engine baidu snubs Google 3D view with its own.


No, what you’re seeing above is not a game. It is, in fact, Chinese search engine Baidu’s answer to Google’s 3D view. These sim-city-esque new maps come in response to the fact that Google’s maps have been prevented from being viewed in china due to the portrayal of sensitive landmarks and locations.

The maps may be censored and pixel-art-y but they are far from inaccurate. Gizmodo claims that the buildings are exact pixel renditions of the buildings and that buildings are modeled exactly to real specifications.
