A stealthy beast.

Good: Stealth design, Rear exhaust vents are quite and effective, Sandy Bridge CPU is powerful, Nvidia GPU runs all games smoothly, Bluray & 3D playback are amazing, Backlit keyboard is nice & bright, 120Hz LCD
Bad: LCD resolution only 1366x768, Bloatware pre-installed, Matt finish on cover attracts a lot of dust and fingerprints
Price: AED 6,999

From auditing to editing, I now test and analyze the latest gadgets and games instead of the latest financial statements. Both jobs are equally intense and rewarding. When I'm not burning up hardware in the name of science, you'll find me nuking in DOTA 2 or engineering in TF2.

can you say a little bit to the battery? How long does it run in idle or on a stress test until you need to go back to AC?

    • Taimoor Hafeez

I didn’t post any battery life numbers because they were quite low; typical for a desktop replacement notebook of course.

On the power saving “Battery Mode”, and keeping the screen brightness under 50% while just surfing the net, I got just around 3 and a half hours. On “High Performance” mode, at 50% screen brightness I got over 2 and a half hours while surfing the net and Youtubing a bit. Playing Crysis 2 on “High Performance” gave me an hour and a half before I had to plug in the power cord.

Like I said, these numbers are nothing to write home about, but are standard for such a powerful notebook.

It seems the G53SW does not support the new technology OPTIMUS … or can you tell us sth. different?
What kind of batterie(i.e. 6Cell or 5200mah) is placed in the book?

        • Taimoor Hafeez

If you check out the Specs page, you’ll see that the G53SW doesn’t contain Optimus.

          The battery is 8Cells : 5200 mAh 74 Whrs.

is it the G53sw – 3D version? is there any review of G53sw -A1?

    • Taimoor Hafeez

The version we got was the 3D 120Hz panel. You can still check out our benchmarks above to check out the performance as they were done in normal “2D/non-3D” format.

  • Adam951

you say that ‘we received the 1366×768 120Hz 3D panel for our review machine’ but do you know if it will be available as a 1080p full HD 3D model with 120hz screen?

    • Taimoor Hafeez

The 1080p screen doesn’t come with 120Hz panel. You can check it out in the Specifications.
