Nielsen outs Android as leading smartphone in the US with Apple and Blackberry tied for second.
In a report featured by research company Nielsen on Mashable, the latest market share figures for smartphones across the United States were released. The result? Android in the lead with Apple’s iOS and RIM’s Blackberry tied for second place.
As the image above depicts the clear leader in the smartphone wars in the US of A is Android with 29% of the market share. The 29% is further split up to show which particular brand seems to be dominant in the OS. HTC comes off as a clear winner with 12% with Motorola second (10%) and Samsung at merely half that with 5 % (Looks like those 10 Million Galaxy S’ didn’t do all that much damage).
iPhones and Blackberry’s were both tied for second place with 27% with windows mobile (Both WP7 and earlier) holding 10%. Nokia’s dreaded Symbian OS brings up the rear with a puny 2% market share.
