Samsung WP7 smartphones reported bricked after Microsoft’s base-update for NoDo.
Microsoft is having ‘an Xbox 360′ all over again with Windows Phone 7. Reports from frustrated Samsung Omnia 7 users are claiming that Microsoft’s base-update for the upcoming NoDo update has been locking, and in many cases, bricking their devices.
One WinRumor reader shared his experience, saying that the update gets as far as stage 6 of 10 before hanging up on ‘connect your phone to your PC’ with the follow error on Windows Zune client:
An error prevented the restoration of your phone to its previous version.
Your phone can’t be used in its present condition and there are no restore points for it on this computer. The phone might restart and return to normal if you disconnect it. For further assistance, contact your mobile operator.
Following the news, WPcentral is reporting that Microsoft intends to roll out a patch fix for the update within 3 days, according to a Microsoft employee advising a user to wait.
“We would recommend at this time, not to retry the update, as subsequent attempts will fail similarly. While we continue to investigate the issue, we would ask that you not attempt the update until your device alerts you of another update opportunity, in approximately 3 days’ time.”
Meanwhile, Microsoft Support suggests to give this method a try to recover a lockdown phone.
