iPhone 3GS outperforms iPhone 4, still way behind Android devices

The guys over at Engadget featured a recent benchmark of the premier players in the smarphone industry currently. The results of the benchmarks produce some rather interesting results with one of the most shocking being the fact that the iPhone 3Gs actually outperforms the iPhone 4.

Evidently the Tegra 2 or even the new Samsung Exynos are no match for the OMAP in the Optimus 3D as it stole the crown with a 4 fps lead.

Couple of things to be noted (In a bid to be neutral):
-The iPhones here are pitted against new and yet to be released phones.
-The iPhone 4 has to render at a higher native resolution than the 3Gs which could explain the FPS discrepancy
-But then again, would you sacrifice speed (the 3Gs) in favour of a more crisp display (the iPhone 4)?
-Also the Optimus 3D isn’t far off from the iPhone’s resolution so what’s holding it back?

Android still takes the cake but it does seem like a buzz-kill that the iPhone 4 has a lower fps than the 3Gs

Take from it what you will folks.
