8 and 12 megapixel CMOS smartphone sensors released, shoot 1080p on mobile devices.

Evidently Samsung feels that we don’t have enough megapixels in our lives and they want to help rectify that. Just released, are details on two new CMOS sensors from Samsung, the S5K3H2 with eight megapixels and the S5K3L1 with 12 megapixels.

Both sensors record full 1080p HD videos (we would expect nothing less). Their frame rates are quite impressive too with the 8 megapixel variant showcasing 30fps and the 12 megapixel sensor offering 1080p recording at a whopping 60fps.

Most importantly, both are designed to be small enough to fit into smartphones.
