Samsung yesterday announced a Android based media player called Galaxy S WiFi.

Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 4.0

The portable media player will run on Android 2.2, 1GHz processor and will include features a 3.2MP rear camera and a front VGA camera, WiFi b/g/n (duh!), Bluetooth 3.0, GPS, and expandable MicroSD slot. However, the most impressive feature is the device’s ability to play a range of video codecs like MPEG4, H.264, DivX, XviD and WMV, and also has enough muscle to play 720p HD videos as well. The device will also be equipped with Samsung’s SoundAlive technology which will provide better sound quality with deeper bass and “greater tone articulation” to allow users to listen music “as the way the artists intended”.

Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 5.0

The Samsung Galaxy S WiFi will come in two different sizes – a 4-inch and a 5-inch, with both sharing the same screen resolution of 480×800. The Galaxy WiFi 4.0 will come with 8/16/32GB of internal storage options, while the 5-incher will only be available in 8/16GB versions.

Galaxy S WiFi 4.0 is set to be available during the first half of this year globally.
