Multiple sources suggest that Apple will be unveiling its new tablet next week.
According to tech site All Things Digital, Apple will be announcing the much awaited iPad 2 on March 2. While no media outlets have been invited to the press event yet, sources close to the website claims that it will be held in San Francisco at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
The announcement date was later confirmed by two more websites New York Times and Reuters.
Not much is know about the new tablet, though common rumors suggest that it will carry front and rear cameras, an SD card slot, slimmer body, and possibly a higher resolution display.
When the first iPad was revealed, it was the only ‘real’ attempt at being a tablet PC, but since then, following the tablet boom, hundreds of companies have come out and announced new devices. Companies like Google, RIM and HP have all showcased their operating systems for tablets that not only compete well with the iPad, but provides better features and faster performance. Come next week, all eyes will be on Apple and how they manage to top its competition. This will be an interesting watch.
