HP hopes to sell 4-5 million units for 2011.
Tech site DigiTimes is reporting that HP’s webOS 3.0-based tablet, the HP TouchPad, will start selling some time in April.
Sources within HP’s component suppliers told the website that manufacturing of the device will begin by the end of March, and the product will hit retail shelves by April.
The report also says that HP intends to sell between 4 to 5 million TouchPads and between 45 to 48 million notebook computers and tablet PCs combined in 2011.
With a rumored price tag of $699, and facing tough competition from the highly awaited Motorola XOOM and iPad 2, the estimates seems unlikely to be met.
