New wireless headphones from Razer will cost $199.
Razer had showcased the Chimaera 5.1 wireless headphones for Xbox 360 back in CES and today have unveiled the launch date and pricing for the cans.
The headphones will be available from April (in the US, initially) and packs in 5.1 Dolby surround sound, 5.8GHz wireless technology, volume and mic controls on the ear cups and an Xbox Live compatible cable. The dock station supports upto 4 headphones, so if your friends rock the same pair of cans, they need not lug around the dock station along for the co-op sessions. Razer claims the battery will hold upto 8 hours of continuous playback, which should be more than enough for multiple gaming sessions (I am not talking about World of Warcraft).
The Chimaera are compatible with PCs as well.
“Putting on this headset may cause serious jaw-dropping aural intensity,” said Robert “RazerGuy” Krakoff, President Razer USA. “With the Razer Chimaera 5.1, we’re giving every gamer the opportunity to experience surround sound in complete wireless freedom. We drew from our expertise in PC gaming audio and worked with Dolby to develop a headset that lets you hear everything with absolute clarity to pinpoint enemy locations, prevent backstabs, and just take your gaming enjoyment further. I recommend using it with the Razer Onza controller for serious Xbox ownage.”
The cans will set you back for $199. Check out the picture gallery below.
