To target distribution to the SMB market.

Press release:
Optimus Technology and Telecommunications, a leading regional Value Added Distributor (VAD) of IT and telecommunications products, today announced that it has signed a Strategic Alliance Partnership agreement with NETGEAR to distribute its range of products targeting the SMB segment in the region. As per the terms of the agreement, Optimus will distribute NETGEAR’s products across the Middle East and Africa with exclusive distribution rights in the countries such as Qatar, Kuwait and Oman.

The partnership complements the objectives of both companies as Optimus was looking to add a strong mid-market networking and storage brand while NETGEAR was looking for a distributor that could offer a suite of value add services along with product distribution.

Ahmad Zeidan of NETGEAR Middle East and Meera Kaul of Optimus Technology & Telecommunications.

“This partnership is very important to Optimus as it provides access to a range of mid-market networking, storage and security solutions that are technically strong, yet highly price competitive. NETGEAR solutions complement Optimus by enabling it to provide a solution offering in the SMB space,” says Suraj Thampi, Group CEO, Optimus.

NETGEAR is a leading global vendor offering a range of networking solutions targeting the retail segment as well as in the Business solutions space. NETGEAR’s Business solutions include the ProSafe range of switches and ProSecure UTM gateway appliances. The vendor also offers consumer and Business ready NAS solutions under the ReadyNas brand, and most of the company’s products are covered by lifetime warranty. According to leading analyst firm Gartner, NETGEAR is one of the few Unified Threat Management (UTM) companies that provide a solution across three primary midsize infrastructure challenges: security with its ProSecure® UTM Series and STM Series security products, data backup/protection with its ReadyNAS® network storage products and network infrastructure with its switching and wireless LAN business products.

“NETGEAR has been one of the faster growing networking brands in the region and we are quite proud to forge an association with the brand as a distributor. We will look forward to further strengthen the brand as one of the market leaders in the SMB segment, which is the mainstay for NETGEAR in the Business segment. I am confident that our strong presence in markets like Qatar and other GCC markets will benefit the brand’s growth along with the dedicated focus we give all brands that we work with,” Ms. Meera Kaul, Managing Director, Optimus added.

NETGEAR is known for its strong focus in the SMB space and it offers VARs selling into that segment a slew of incentives that include sales and technical support, training, customer site visits, special tender prices and product demos. The breadth of the company’s solutions covers security, backup and infrastructure — making it a one-stop shop for smaller businesses.

According to Ahmad Zeidan, Regional Channel Sales Manager at NETGEAR Middle East, “The opportunity in the SMB market continues to be strong and it is important for NETGEAR to further ensure that we are optimally meeting the demand of the market with an effective distribution strategy. Optimus, being a reputed value-added distributor with tremendous expertise in the networking space, will enhance NETGEAR’s channel network in the Middle East and Africa territory by conducting channel development and marketing activities in the designated markets.”

Optimus is a multinational VAD serving solution integrators, solution providers and the value-added partner community. The company offers its channel partners across the Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan a single window solution for a wide spectrum of products catering to their entire technology and telecom needs.  Optimus provides products and services across different solution parameters to enable and enhance its partners’ revenues. The company launched its hosting applications offering and strengthened its support services to its partners through Optimus 360°, which is suite of services across sales, marketing, pre and post sales support. The distributor will extend those value add services to help strengthen visibility, reach and support for NETGEAR products in the region.
