To be honest, the only two requirements I need from a hotel is free breakfast and err…clean, ‘stain-less’ beds. But a five star hotel in New York called The Plaza will offer all that and more, and now with a bit of Apple’s iPad-ness thrown in for good measure. The hotel said that it has installed iPads in every guest room which, running on a custom app, will provide a multitude of services at just a touch of the panel.
The app will allow guests to control lights in the room, change their air conditioning systems, order room service, make restaurant reservations, make wake up call requests, communicate with the concierge, and even print boarding passes.
According to the general manager, they felt their old system “wasn’t sophisticated enough for what we wanted to do” and wanted to implement “a great piece of equipment that is here to stay and won’t disappear tomorrow.”
I wonder how long it will be before they are jailbroken.
