New rumors suggest that Apple is planning to buy an app developer to head-up the new notification system.
When Palm’s system and inventor of the webOS banner notification system Rich Dellinger was hired by Apple, rumors sparked of a new notification system for the iOS may soon be in the works. But so far, there was not even a slightest bit of hint towards it, until now. A tipster at Cult of Mac claimed that Apple is currently working to revamp their old, dated and unusable notification system and is eyeing an app developer studio to head-up the process.
Rumor suggest that the studio in question could be App Remix who already has social networking Rockmelt-ish notifier called Boxcar for the iPhone, though other sources say that it is highly unlikely. Adding mystery to the whole shebang was App Remix CEO’s “no comment” when asked if Apple was planning to buy out the firm.
If the new rumors are true, it would address one of the biggest complaints users have with the operating system. However the question remains: will the new feature will be included in the existing 4.x version of the iOS or will Apple save it up for iOS 5?
