Analysts suggest that by 2012 ad revenue generated from Android could exceed $1 billion.

Google has a knack for making boatloads of money by giving things out for free. The latest report just out from Forbes seems to be a testament to that. As of now, the reported per user ad revenue stands at $5.9 but one particular analyst, Gene Munster, believes that by 2012 that number will hit $9.85 per user. This along with his predicted Android user base of 133 million by that year means that this will sum up to the tidy sum of $1.3 Billion. He also notes that this could be even higher if in-app advertising takes off.

This may not be entirely surprising since Eric Schmidt mentioned that Android had the potential to be a $10 Billion dollar venture (Which required a far-fetched billion users at $10 per user). Nevertheless it would be interesting to see where Google goes with this.
