Restraining orders asks for codes and jail break tools to be taken offline, hacker’s PC be impounded.

Geohot, or George Hotz, the brain behind the iPhone jailbreak and now the PS3 as well, has created quite a stir at Sony who had been enjoying piracy-less PS3 bliss since the launch of the console. It is now taking all actions possible to contain the damage done and has asked a restraining order citing violations of Digital Millennium Copyright Act, the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, various copyright infringements and other acts that we have never heard of.

If the restraining order is granted, Sony wants all jailbreak tools and codes be taken offline, and Geohot’s computers and related media be impounded.

The court has yet to pass a judgement on the matter. However, we feel Sony’s attempts will go futile, as majority of the damage have already been done, and the much anticipated hack codes are already out in the open. It should rather concentrating on finding ways to stop users from breaking their PS3s and run unofficial code on it.
