Internet Explorer 9 features to boost online user experience of the popular classifieds portal.
Microsoft Gulf announced today that it has teamed up with the UAE based internet pioneer Dubizzle to enhance its online user experience by leveraging the new features of Internet Explorer 9 (IE9).
Dubizzle is the leading online classifieds and community website which connects buyers and sellers across the Middle East and North Africa. In just five years, Dubizzle has grown to become the number one source for classifieds in the region. With over one million unique visitors on a monthly basis and growing, Dubizzle is committed to improving the browsing and shopping experience for its visitors.
By integrating the ‘pinning’ and ‘jump list’ features enabled by IE9, Dubizzle users will be able to access and manage their activities quicker, and they can interact with other users via a seamless and rich online experience. The ‘pinning’ feature enables users to have easy, one-click access to Dubizzle.com by pinning the site as an icon to their taskbar, start menu, or desktop.
The new ‘jump list’ feature enables common actions, such as placing an ad on the site, just a click away. Users can also check the latest news from Dubizzle via the taskbar jump list that provides access to its popular social networking destination on Facebook and its Twitter account. In addition, the jump list allows users to store recent history of their activity on the site.
Dubizzle co-founder J.C. Butler said: “What makes Dubizzle different is the user experience, so anything that improves that interaction is welcomed. Partnering with Microsoft and IE9 means we can offer an enhanced streamlined experience to users through our sites as we continue our expansion across MENA.”
Samer Abu-Ltaif, Regional General Manager of Microsoft Gulf, said: “Microsoft has a history of working with cutting-edge internet properties and other online businesses in developing tailored, innovative solutions to specific needs. As the poster children for online entrepreneurship in the region, we’re delighted that the team at Dubizzle has recognized the inherent value proposition in IE9’s custom features. Innovation is a touchstone for both of our companies and IE9 is a perfect illustration of how we put that innovation into action to benefit businesses and users alike.”
Internet Explorer 9 puts the focus on websites with a clean experience, Windows 7 integration, and more pixels dedicated to the website, not the browser, allowing sites to shine. With pinned sites, a user’s favorite websites can be accessed directly from the Windows taskbar without having to first open the browser, making it quick and easy to get to the content they care about. With jump lists users have a quick and easy way to get to a common web site task without having to first launch the browser. Additionally, the design principles in Windows 7 carry through to Internet Explorer 9 so that sites appear more like native applications on the PC.
