Hotmail glitch deletes user emails

Users complaining of deleted emails, reset as new account.

Hotmail is facing some not-so-hot time. A bug – which first appeared on the 31st December – is causing the service to delete or at least display all folders as being empty.

“Hotmail deleted all my emails and made it like a brand new account,” one frustrated user posted. ”Please help. I don’t care about deleted emails, but everything else is extremely important.”

It is unclear if the messages are actually being deleted or are just hidden away by the glitch. Some users are also reporting that Hotmail seems to think their account is new and sends them the ‘welcome’ email as well.

Of course, in crisis like this, users have taken to Facebook, creating a user group with swathes of complaints posted on the group’s wall page.

Fortunately, Microsoft were quick to acknowledge the problem, saying the issue only affected a “small subset” of users and should be resolved soon – though there was no specific timeframe given. The tech giant has apologized for any inconvenience caused.
