Bug sends SMS to random recipients.
According to a report from ZDNet blog, Google’s Android mobile platform is being plagued by a bug that sends SMS to random recipients. What’s more, Google seems to be ignoring the problem all together.
The bug was first reported in June 2010 and has been since relegated to ‘Priority-Medium’ and has yet to be addressed. The developer who first reported problem described it as such:
- Send SMS message to RecipientA.
- Message appears to be successfully sent to RecipientA.
- RecipientX receives message.
- ‘View Message Details’ in RecipientA thread, shows ‘To’ field as being RecipientX’s MSISDN (phone number).
ZDNet also held a boll where 30% of the poll-takers indicated that the bug has affected their Android phones at some point.
